Zoomify Zoom Controls, Keybinds, and First-Time Setup
Zoomify gives you a configurable zoom that you trigger with a keybind rather than a crafted item, and the sections below cover the core zoom action, the scroll-wheel behaviour, the settings you will most likely adjust first, and the conflicts that can stop zoom from working at all.
The Basic Zoom Action
The central control is Zoom (Hold). Press and hold its keybind to zoom in, and release to return to your normal view. The key itself is not fixed for you here — assign it in the controls menu under the Zoomify category, since that is where every Zoomify keybind lives.
Two related actions sit alongside it: Scroll Zoom In and Scroll Zoom Out. These let you change zoom level with dedicated keybinds instead of the mouse wheel. If you prefer that arrangement, enable the option that makes Minecraft keybinds drive scroll zoom rather than the wheel.
Scroll Wheel Zooming
Enable Scroll Zoom turns wheel-based zooming on. With it active, you can zoom in and out further using the scroll wheel, extending past whatever level you started at.
Scroll Step Count decides how many scroll steps are available in each direction, so you can move in or out from your initial zoom level. The zoom multiplier applied per step is a separate value — a multiplier of 1.5x means every step adds fifty percent more zoom.
Scroll Zoom Smoothness controls how smooth the scroll-zoom feels and how long it takes to complete.
There is also an option to keep your scroll zoom amount consistent between zooming in and zooming out, so the two directions do not drift apart.
One limitation to know: setting the scroll step amount is not supported.
First Settings to Look At
Several settings shape how zoom feels the moment you use it:
- The zoom level applied when you first press the keybind.
- Zoom In Transition and Zoom Out Transition, each with its own duration in seconds — how many seconds the zoom takes to complete in that direction.
- The transition type used for zooming in and the transition type used for zooming out. Available styles include Ease In Exponential, Ease Out Exponential, and Ease In Out Exponential.
- An option that keeps the hand's field of view normal while the world view zooms in.
- Remember Zoom Steps (retainZoomSteps), which preserves your zoom steps.
- Relative Sensitivity (relativeSensitivity), which scales sensitivity according to your zoom level.
- Relative View Bobbing (relativeViewBobbing), which makes view-bobbing less jarring while zoomed in.
- A camera glide amount, controlling how much the camera drifts once you move it.
- A divisor setting for how many times the current FOV is divided once the transition finishes.
Spyglass Behaviour
Zoomify can interact with spyglass zoom. Related options cover when the spyglass overlay appears (Overlay Visibility, or spyglassOverlayVisibility), when the spyglass zoom in and out sounds play, and behaviour modes such as Allow While Holding (only zoom while holding), Allow While Carrying (only zoom while carrying), and Only Holding Spyglass (only spyglass).
Secondary Zoom and HUD
Secondary zoom is completely separate from every other Zoomify setting. It is toggle-only and uses its own keybinding in the controls menu.
There is also an option that stops rendering the HUD while you are zooming in, working much like pressing F1.
Conflicts and Migration
If zoom refuses to work, the cause is usually a keybind clash. Unbind Conflicting Keybind (unbindConflicting) removes whichever keybind shares its key with the Zoomify zoom key. When Zoomify does this automatically, it reports that it unbound a key because it conflicted with the zoom key.
Applying a preset takes effect immediately and discards any pending changes, so confirm before you apply one.
Zoomify can also check for available automatic migrations. If none exist, it says so; if one is available, you are asked whether to migrate your config automatically. A completed migration is confirmed afterwards. Note that linear timings cannot be calculated automatically, and persistent zoom mode, the vignette overlay, and setting a minimum zoom divisor are all unsupported.
