Zoomify Spyglass Zoom, Overlay, Sound, and Keybind Conflict Guide

guide

Zoomify handles spyglass-style zooming through its own settings and controls rather than through crafting or items. This guide covers how the zoom controls behave, how spyglass visuals and sounds are handled, and what to do when a keybind gets in the way.

Zoom Controls

Zoomify separates the act of zooming from the act of adjusting zoom strength.

  • Zoom (Hold) is the main control. While it is held, the view zooms according to your configured zoom level and transition settings.
  • Scroll Zoom In and Scroll Zoom Out let you change the zoom level with the scroll wheel, but only when Enable Scroll Zoom is turned on. That option exists specifically to allow zooming further in and out with the wheel.
  • Scroll Step Count sets how many scroll steps are available in each direction, so you can move away from the initial zoom level in either direction.
  • The per-step zoom multiplier works on a simple principle: a value of 1.5x means every step adds 50 percent more zoom.
  • Scroll Zoom Smoothness controls how smooth the scroll-zoom feels and how long it takes to complete.
  • Keep scroll zoom amount between zooming in and out preserves your scroll zoom level as you switch between zooming in and out.
  • If you prefer not to use the wheel, you can have Minecraft keybinds drive scroll zoom instead. Note that setting the scroll step amount is not supported in that mode.

Transitions and Camera Feel

Transition settings shape how the zoom begins and ends.

  • The zoom-in and zoom-out durations are each measured in seconds, defining how long each transition takes to complete.
  • Zoom In Transition and Zoom Out Transition select the transition type used for each direction. Available styles include Ease In Exponential, Ease Out Exponential, and Ease In Out Exponential.
  • You can keep the field of view of your hand normal while the world view zooms in, so your held item does not stretch with the zoom.
  • Remember Zoom Steps retains your zoom step amount between zoom sessions.
  • Relative Sensitivity adjusts your look sensitivity according to the current zoom level.
  • Relative View Bobbing makes view bobbing less jarring while zoomed in.
  • A camera glide setting controls how much the camera continues to move after you stop moving it.
  • A separate FOV divisor setting controls how many times the current field of view is divided once the transition finishes.

Spyglass Integration

Zoomify can behave like a spyglass, and its spyglass-related options are grouped together.

  • One setting determines how Zoomify interacts with spyglass zoom.
  • Overlay Visibility decides when the spyglass overlay appears.
  • A separate sound setting decides when the zoom in and out sounds from the spyglass play.
  • The zoom key's behavior can be configured, with modes such as Allow While Holding, Allow While Carrying, and Only Holding Spyglass.
  • Secondary zoom is completely separate from all other Zoomify settings. It is toggle-only and uses its own keybinding in the controls menu.
  • Persistent zoom mode is not supported, and neither is a vignette overlay. Setting a minimum zoom divisor is also unsupported.

HUD and Conflicts

  • Zoomify can stop rendering the HUD while you are zooming in, in the same way that pressing F1 hides it.
  • Unbind Conflicting Keybind removes whichever keybind shares its key with the Zoomify zoom key.
  • If a conflict blocks zooming, Zoomify warns you that it won't work and explains that a conflicting keybind is preventing the zoom key from being used. You can clear it from the Zoomify settings category.
  • When Zoomify clears a conflict, it reports that it unbound a key because it clashed with the zoom key.

Presets and Migration

  • Applying a preset takes effect immediately and discards any pending changes.
  • Zoomify can check for automatic migrations. If none exist, it says so.
  • When a migration is available, you are asked whether to automatically migrate your configuration to Zoomify. A completed migration is confirmed with a completion notice.
  • Linear timings cannot be calculated automatically, so that option is not supported.
