Zume Zoom Mod: Settings, Keybinds, and Controls Guide
Zume is a zoom utility for Minecraft that is operated entirely through its settings screen and hotkeys rather than through crafting or items. This guide covers what each setting does and how to control zoom while playing.
Opening the Settings
Zume's options live in its own settings screen, separate from the standard game options. Open that screen to adjust anything described below. Changes to most options apply immediately; one option notes that it requires a relaunch before it takes effect.
The Zoom Keybind
Zoom is triggered by a keybind rather than an item. Assign it in the controls menu, then use the corresponding hotkey in-game to start zooming. How that hotkey behaves depends on your camera perspective and two toggle settings.
First-Person Toggle Mode controls first-person behaviour. When enabled, the zoom keybind acts as a toggle in first-person, so pressing it turns zoom on and pressing it again turns zoom off. When disabled (the default), zoom is only active in first-person while you hold the keybind down.
Third-Person Toggle Mode does the same job for third-person view. It is enabled by default, so the keybind toggles zoom on and off in third-person. Disable it if you would rather hold the key to stay zoomed.
Scrolling and Sensitivity
Enable Zoom Scrolling lets you zoom in and out by scrolling the mouse wheel up and down while zoom is active. With this on, your scroll input adjusts zoom instead of moving through your hotbar, so you will not cycle hotbar slots mid-zoom. It is enabled by default.
The Speed setting controls how fast the zoom in and out keybinds change your zoom, and also how fast scrolling changes it when zoom scrolling is enabled. Its default is 20.
Mouse Sensitivity Floor keeps your look sensitivity from dropping too far while zoomed. Sensitivity will not be reduced below the value you set here. The default floor is 40.
Zoom Amount and Animation
The default starting zoom percentage is 50. A separate Minimum zoom FOV setting defines the smallest field of view zoom can reach, defaulting to 1.0.
FOV changes are spread out over a set number of milliseconds rather than snapping instantly; the default is 150ms. Two exponents shape that motion. Animation Easing Exponent governs the easing used for the animation and defaults to Quartic. Zoom Normalizing Exponent is used to make differences in FOV more uniform and defaults to Quadratic.
Enable Cinematic Zoom turns on the cinematic camera while you are zoomed in. It is enabled by default.
Third-Person Distance
Two settings bound how far the camera can pull back in third-person. Maximum Third-Person Zoom Distance is measured in blocks and defaults to 15. Minimum Third-Person Zoom Distance is also in blocks and defaults to 0.5; setting it to 4 blocks reproduces vanilla behaviour.
Disabling the Mod
There is an option that disables Zume entirely. On some platforms the keybinds will still appear in the game options while this is set, but they will not do anything. This option requires a relaunch to take effect, and it is disabled by default.
