Ad Astra Rocket Tiers and Planet Progression

guide

Ad Astra's progression is a ladder of rocket tiers, each built from a better metal and each unlocking farther worlds. This guide maps the four rockets to the planets they reach.

The four rocket tiers

All rockets are assembled at the Nasa Workbench from a nose cone, six metal blocks, four fins, two tanks and an engine — the metal is what changes:

  • Tier 1 RocketSteel Block parts. Reaches the Moon.
  • Tier 2 RocketDesh Block parts, using desh mined on the Moon. Reaches Mars.
  • Tier 3 RocketOstrum Block parts, using ostrum from Mars. Reaches Venus and Mercury.
  • Tier 4 RocketCalorite Block parts, using calorite from the hot planets. Reaches a new solar system.

Planet by planet

The Moon is a barren, oxygen-free world whose value is underground, where you mine desh for the tier two rocket. Mars yields ostrum for stronger armor and machines. Once you have enough ostrum for a full Netherite Space Suit set and the tier three rocket, you can travel to Venus and Mercury, where calorite is found. Calorite then builds the ultimate tier four rocket, which leaves the solar system for Proxima Centauri — the current end of the progression.

Getting home

Always keep the means to return: open your lander, collect the rocket, fuel and launch pad, and carry them with every trip so you are never stranded off-world.
