Mahou Tsukai: Unique Spells and Mana Guide
Mahou Tsukai: Unique Spells and Mana centers on a magic system where every spell is meant to stand on its own rather than slot into a tier list. The mod deliberately avoids competing with vanilla tools or other mods, so you will not find a spell that simply duplicates an existing item's job. There is no progression ladder to climb through — aside from mana itself, spells are not ranked, and each one is designed to have a real reason to be used in some situation. Even the most basic spells stay relevant, because nothing gets "outgrown."
Getting Started With the Compendium
Your first practical step is the
Mahou Tsukai Knowledge Compendium, which is shaped from
Red Dye x5,
Paper x3, and
Leather. This book is your reference for the mod's spells and systems, so make it early and keep it on hand.
Mana and Its Circuits
Mana is the one resource that does gate how much you can cast. Two items relate directly to it. The Mana Circuit is shaped from
Fae Essence x8 and
Powdered Emerald. The
Magitech Mana Circuit is shaped from
Iron Ingot x6 and
Powdered Emerald x3. Mana costs and mana regeneration are both configurable, so if casting feels too slow or too cheap, that is adjustable.
Spell Cloth and Mystic Codes
Spellcasting gear starts with cloth.
Spell Cloth is made shapelessly from
White Wool and a
Dagger. From there you can shape a
Mystic Code using
Spell Cloth x6 and
Powdered Gold x3. A stronger variant, the
Mystic Code - First Sorcery, is shaped from
Spell Cloth x6,
Fae Essence x2, and
Powdered Diamond.
Attunement
Some materials must be attuned before use. An
Attuner is shaped from
Lapis Lazuli x4 and
Gold Ingot x4. Combining the
Attuner with a
Diamond gives an
Attuned Diamond, and combining it with an
Emerald gives an
Attuned Emerald. Both conversions are shapeless.
Powdered Materials
Several recipes call for powdered forms of ordinary materials, and you have two ways to make them. The
Hammer is shaped from
String,
Cobblestone x2, and
Stick x2. The
Mortar is shaped from
Brick x2 and a
Diamond, while the
Pestle is shaped from
Stick x2 and
Diamond x3. Combine the two into a
Mortar and Pestle shapelessly.
With either tool you can grind materials down. Using a
Hammer or a
Mortar and Pestle on a
Diamond yields
Powdered Diamond; on an
Emerald yields
Powdered Emerald; on an
Ender Pearl yields
Powdered Ender; on an
Eye of Ender yields
Powdered Eye; on a
Gold Ingot yields
Powdered Gold; on an
Iron Ingot yields
Powdered Iron; and on
Nether Quartz yields
Powdered Quartz. The
Mortar and Pestle produces two of a powder where the
Hammer produces one.
Projectors and Other Tools
Two devices project spell effects into the world. The Fog Projector is shaped from
Powdered Eye x6,
Redstone Dust x2, and
Spell Cloth. The Mahoujin Projector is shaped from
Powdered Gold x6,
Redstone Dust x2, and
Spell Cloth.
A few other items round out the toolkit. The
Dagger is shaped from
Gold Ingot x2,
Stick,
Purple Dye x2, and
Iron Ingot x2. The
Faecake is a shapeless recipe of
Sugar,
Wheat,
Fae Essence, and
Egg. The
Kodoku is a shapeless mix of
Dirt,
Carrot,
Potato,
Poisonous Potato,
Rotten Flesh, and
Nether Wart.
The Reality Marble
The mod includes a custom dimension called the Reality Marble. Its climate is hot, with a temperature of 2, and no rain falls there. Nothing in the mod is gated behind world generation, so you can add Mahou Tsukai to an existing world without hunting for new terrain — the Reality Marble is simply somewhere you can travel to.
Configuring Your Experience
Nearly everything here is tunable: mana costs, mana regeneration, sound effect volume, rendering, spell sizes and effects, and how often certain spells tick. A single spell often has several config options attached to it. If something is lagging, taking too long, or behaving in a way you dislike, you can usually dial it down through the config rather than avoiding the spell entirely.
