Guide to Crafting and Upgrading Ametrine Tools and Armor
This guide explains how to craft 
Ametrine tools and armor using a smithing table. All Ametrine items are created through a smithing transformation process.
General Crafting Process
To create any Ametrine item, you will need three specific components:
- A
Smithing Template - An existing piece of non-Ametrine gear (either a tool or armor)
- An
Ametrine Ingot
Place these three items into a smithing table to transform the existing gear into its Ametrine counterpart.
Ametrine Tools
You can upgrade various tools to their Ametrine versions.
Ametrine Pickaxe
To craft an 
Ametrine Pickaxe, combine a Smithing Template, an Ametrine Ingot, and one of the following pickaxes:
Aquamarine Pickaxe
Citrine Pickaxe
Jade Pickaxe
Netherite Pickaxe
Peridot Pickaxe
Ruby PickaxeAmetrine Shovel
To craft an 
Ametrine Shovel, combine a Smithing Template, an Ametrine Ingot, and one of the following shovels:

The lists above hide the useful part: this works in every direction. An Ametrine Sword put back into a smithing table with a 
Ruby Ingot becomes a 
Ruby Sword, and the same holds for aquamarine, citrine, jade, peridot, sapphire and topaz. No gem tier is a dead end, and no upgrade is one-way.
Two things follow. You never need to build a base item twice — one ingot converts a tool you have already enchanted and repaired, and the enchantments travel with it. And the order you find gems in does not matter, because whichever tier your world hands you first can be moved to any other later.
What a full set costs
Nine pieces means nine Ametrine Ingot, and each ingot is four Ametrine plus four 
Necoium Ingot — thirty-six of each — along with nine smithing templates and nine base items.
The cheapest base items are the ones already in your inventory. Converting an enchanted netherite set costs the same nine ingots as converting bare tools, so there is no reason to start from fresh gear.
