Relics calculator

Pick a relic, set its rolled quality, rank and ability levels, and read its stats the way the relic's own screen would show them, together with the numbers you are working toward. Below, find out which relics a chest can hold and how likely each one is.

What can this chest hold?

How relic stats grow

Every stat is rolled when the relic is found, somewhere between its lowest and highest starting value, in eleven steps of quality. Leveling the ability then raises it along a curve (some stats add a flat amount per level, others grow by a percentage or level off). The curve is set so that a perfectly rolled relic reaches the stat's ceiling at the top level of the final rank, which is why a relic at rank 0 gains only part of its full strength per level. A weaker roll keeps a gap to the ceiling all the way up.

A relic earns experience by doing what its abilities do. Each relic level costs more than the last and gives one point to spend on an ability. When every ability is maxed you can rank the relic up: its levels and points reset, every level from then on is worth more, and some ranks unlock new effects on an ability.

Where relics come from

Any chest that generates has a 20% chance to add a relic. Which one depends on where the chest is: each relic lists the dimensions, biomes and kinds of chest it belongs to, and the relics that fit are drawn by weight, with a relic tied to a specific biome or kind of chest weighing up to five times as much as one that fits anywhere. Chests from other mods count when their names match, so a modded nether fortress chest can hold nether relics too.
