Serene Seasons crop calendar

How seasons affect crops

The year has four seasons of three sub-seasons each, eight days apiece by default, so a year is 96 in-game days. Each crop is fertile in some seasons. Out of season it is not dead, just slow: only about one growth tick in six gets through, and bone meal fails as often. A server can instead stop growth outright or break the crop.

Three things override the calendar. Any glass block up to 16 blocks above a crop makes a greenhouse, and the crop grows normally all year. Underground farms below Y 48 with no view of the sky are always fertile. And the biome counts: in biomes cold enough to snow only winter crops are fertile, while tropical biomes (jungles, deserts, savannas, badlands, mangrove swamps, mushroom fields, warm oceans) grow summer crops all year and no other season's crops. A crop that is in none of the season lists grows normally in any season.
