Optimize Storage Space with Sophisticated Storage Stack Upgrades
Sophisticated Storage offers various stack upgrades and downgrades to optimize your storage space. These upgrades multiply the number of item stacks a single slot can hold within your storage blocks.
Stack Upgrades
Stack upgrades increase the capacity of storage slots by a multiplier. Applying these upgrades to your Barrels, Limited Barrels, Chests, or Shulker Boxes allows you to store significantly more items in each slot.
Stack Upgrade Tier 1: This upgrade doubles the number of stacks that can fit into a slot, multiplying capacity by 2.
Stack Upgrade Tier 1 Plus: This upgrade triples the number of stacks that can fit into a slot, multiplying capacity by 3.
Stack Upgrade Tier 2: This upgrade quadruples the number of stacks that can fit into a slot, multiplying capacity by 4.
Stack Upgrade Tier 3: This upgrade increases slot capacity by a factor of 8.
Stack Upgrade Tier 4: This upgrade increases slot capacity by a factor of 16.
Stack Upgrade Tier 5: This upgrade increases slot capacity by a factor of 32.
Stack Upgrade Omega Tier: the ceiling, multiplying stacks per slot by 33,554,431.
Downgrades exist too
The mod also ships upgrades that go the other way, dividing what a slot holds by 8, 16 or 32 across their three tiers. That sounds pointless until you are building a filtered input chest or a limited display barrel, where a slot that holds *less* is exactly what you want.
Do not throw the old upgrade away
The most commonly missed part of the system is conversion. Sixteen dedicated conversion items exist purely to move an installed upgrade up a tier — Tier 1 to Tier 1 Plus, Tier 1 straight to Tier 2, 3, 4 or 5, Tier 1 Plus to any tier above it, Tier 2 up to 3, 4 or 5, and so on to Tier 4 to Tier 5.
The practical effect is that no stack upgrade is ever wasted. Buying a Tier 1 early costs you nothing later, because the conversion path carries its value forward instead of asking you to craft the higher tier from scratch.
Where the capacity actually goes
Stack upgrades multiply what one *slot* holds, not how many slots there are. Slot count comes from the storage tier — copper, iron, gold, diamond, netherite — so the two systems stack: tier upgrades widen the grid, stack upgrades deepen every square in it. A netherite chest with a high stack upgrade is also the container most likely to hit the loose-drop limit when broken, which is when 
Packing Tape stops being optional.
